The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has issued an official recruitment advertisement (Advt. No. 13 of 2026–27) for the engagement of Assistant Executive Engineers (Civil) and Assistant Executive Engineers (Mechanical) in Group-‘A’ of the Odisha Engineering Service Cadre.

Under the Department of Water Resources (DoWR) as the nodal authority, a total of 758 vacancies will be filled across major engineering departments of the Government of Odisha, including the Water Resources Department, Works Department, and Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department.

OPSC AEE Jobs 2026: Eligibility Criteria

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has outlined specific eligibility criteria for the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Civil and Mechanical recruitment 2026. Candidates must fulfill the following age, educational, and linguistic requirements to be considered eligible.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must be in good mental and physical health, free from any physical or mental defects likely to interfere with the discharge of their duties (except for eligible PwD candidates).
  • Candidates with more than one spouse living are not eligible unless exempted by the State Government.
  • Government servants must obtain a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their respective Heads of Office.

Education Details

Candidates must satisfy the following academic and technical requirements as on the date of online application:

  • AEE (Civil): Must hold a regular Degree in Civil Engineering from a Government-recognized University/Institute, OR be an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers of India (AMIE) in Civil Engineering.

  • AEE (Mechanical): Must hold a regular Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a Government-recognized University/Institute, OR be an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers of India (AMIE) in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Mandatory GATE Score Card: Candidates must possess a valid QR-Coded GATE Score Card in the respective discipline (Civil or Mechanical Engineering) from GATE 2024, GATE 2025, or GATE 2026.

    • The raw score obtained must be equal to or greater than the official qualifying mark for the applicant’s respective category as specified on the scorecard.

    • If a candidate holds scores for more than one year, only one scorecard of choice must be uploaded.

  • Odia Language Requirement: Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak Odia and must have passed Middle School / Class VII / Matriculation with Odia as a language examination or cleared the standard M.E. school Odia language test conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Odisha.

Salary & Pay Scale

  • Pay Scale: Placed in Level-12, Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix under the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2017.

  • Allowances: Entitled to usual Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other admissible state service allowances sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.

  • Pension Scheme: Governed under the National Pension System (defined Contributory Pension Scheme) as per Odisha Civil Services Rules.

  • Probation: A regular probation period of two years applies upon joining.

Selection Process

There will be no separate written examination conducted by the Commission. Selection is strictly performance-oriented based on competitive GATE scores and a Viva-Voce test.
