Education Details
General Requirement: A relevant Bachelor’s degree followed by a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA: 3.00 on a 4-point scale or 7.00 on a 10-point scale).
National Eligibility Test (NET): Candidates must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ICAR/UGC/CSIR. NET is waived for candidates holding a Ph.D. degree acquired under the course credit system as per UGC Regulations, 2009, with at least two full-length publications carrying a NAAS rating of not less than 5. NET is not mandatory for Agricultural Engineering or disciplines where NET is not conducted.

Salary
Appointed candidates will receive an initial salary under Level 10 of the Pay Matrix (7th Pay Commission) in the pay band of Rs. 57,700/- to Rs. 1,82,400/- per month.
Age Limit
Maximum Age: 38 years as on the last date of application submission (November 4, 2026).
In-Service Candidates: Upper age is relaxable for permanent in-service candidates by the number of years served in AAU/ICAR/CSIR/DST/SAUs/Govt. institutions, up to a maximum of 5 years.
Reserved Categories: Age relaxation applies to SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates as per Government of Assam norms.
Domicile Rule: Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible to apply.
Selection Process
Shortlisting of candidates is conducted through the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) prescribed for direct recruitment at AAU. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying benchmark score out of 80 to be called for the interview:
General Candidates: Minimum 44 out of 80 marks
SC / ST Candidates: Minimum 40 out of 80 marks
Candidates meeting the benchmark will be called for the personal interview round.
