Note: Only pre-registered candidates who are issued a valid Provisional Admit Card will be allowed to report and participate at the designated rally venues (2 ASC New Delhi or 7 ASC Bengaluru).

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit

  • Candidates must be born between 01 January 2005 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive).
  • The maximum upper age limit permissible on the exact date of enrolment is 22 years.

2. Marital Status & Conditions

  • Only unmarried male and female candidates are permitted to join.
  • Candidates must commit to remaining unmarried throughout the 4-year engagement term.
  • Female candidates must also undertake not to undergo pregnancy during the tenure.

3. Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must have successfully passed Matriculation / Class 10th or its equivalent qualification with minimum passing marks from any recognized Central, State, or UT Government education board.

4. Musical Proficiency & Experience

  • Skill Requirements: Ability to sing one full song with correct tempo and pitch, play one preparatory tune, and follow notations like Staff notation, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani, or Carnatic systems. Candidates must also be capable of tuning their respective instruments.

  • Instrument Expertise: Proficiency in playing at least one instrument from the following categories is required (proficiency in two instruments—one from each list—is highly preferred):

    • List A (Wind/Brass): Concert Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Bass/Tuba.

    • List B (Keyboards/Strings/Percussion): Keyboard/Organ/Piano, Guitar (Acoustic/Lead/Bass), Violin/Viola/String Bass, Drums/Percussion (Acoustic/Electronic), or any Indian Classical Instrument.

  • Certification Required: Candidates must hold at least one of these credentials:

    • Grade 5 or above qualification certificate from standard music bodies (e.g., TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory, BSM, TSM, GMI, Berklee).

    • A recognized university Diploma or equivalent degree in Hindustani or Carnatic Classical Music.

    • Official certificate of performance, awards, or participation in events (specifically involving blowing instruments with staff notation).

Mandatory Physical & Medical Standards

Candidates reporting to the rally must meet the following baseline standards set by the IAF:

  • Height (Male): Minimum acceptable height is 162 cms.

  • Height (Female): Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms (147 cms for candidates from the North East/Hilly Uttarakhand regions; 150 cms for Lakshadweep candidates).

  • Chest Expansion: The chest structure must be well-proportioned. Both male and female candidates must exhibit a minimum chest expansion range of 5 cms (Males must have a minimum baseline chest circumference of 77 cms).

  • Hearing: Normal hearing acuity, with the capability to clearly hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear individually.

  • Visual Standards: Visual acuity must be 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6 in each eye. Hypermetropia limit is +2.00 D, Myopia limit is -1.0 D, and Colour Vision must be CP-II. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK operations are not accepted.

  • Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are strictly banned, except on the inner face of the forearms, back of the hand/reverse side of the palm, or traditional tribal markings subject to selection center approval.

Step-by-Step Selection Procedure

The selection process is entirely transparent, fair, and based strictly on candidate merit. The testing phases are scheduled as follows:

Phase 1: Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

  • PFT-I (1.6 Km Run): Male candidates must finish within 7 minutes; female candidates must finish within 8 minutes.

Salary Package & Benefits

Enrolled Agniveervayu musicians will complete a four-year service tenure. They will receive a fixed monthly package with yearly increments alongside a customized Seva Nidhi corpus plan:

  • 1st Year: ₹30,000 monthly package (In-hand: ₹21,000; Corpus contribution: ₹9,000)
  • 2nd Year: ₹33,000 monthly package (In-hand: ₹23,100; Corpus contribution: ₹9,900)
  • 3rd Year: ₹36,500 monthly package (In-hand: ₹25,550; Corpus contribution: ₹10,950)
  • 4th Year: ₹40,000 monthly package (In-hand: ₹28,000; Corpus contribution: ₹12,000)

Seva Nidhi Package: Upon completing the 4-year tenure, candidates will receive an absolute amount of approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs (excluding accumulated interest), consisting of their total savings matched equally by the Government of India. Additionally, up to 25% of the batch will get an opportunity to enroll into the regular cadre of the IAF as permanent Airmen.
