APPSC Group 1 2026 Education Details

To be eligible for the APPSC Group 1 exam, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university in India. However, certain specialized posts require specific educational backgrounds:

  • District Fire Officers: A Degree in Engineering (Fire) from a UGC-recognized university. If unavailable, candidates with a degree in any discipline will be considered.

  • Assistant Treasury/Accounts Officer: A degree in Commerce, Economics, or Mathematics with at least a 2nd class, or a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.

  • District Social Welfare Officer: A Bachelor’s degree, with preference given to applicants holding a degree in Sociology or Social Work.

APPSC Group 1 2026: Salary

Candidates selected for APPSC Group 1 services will be entitled to a highly lucrative government pay scale along with standard allowances.

  • Top Tier (Deputy Collectors, DSP, Asst. Commissioner): Rs. 61,960 to Rs. 1,51,370/-

  • Mid Tier (RTO, MPDO, District Welfare Officers, Fire Officers): Rs. 57,100 to Rs. 1,47,760/-

APPSC Group 1 2026 Age Limit

The general age limit for most posts (like Deputy Collector, RTO, and District Welfare Officers) is 18 to 42 years. Certain uniform and specific roles have different age requirements:

  • Assistant Commissioner / DSP (Civil): 21 to 28 years

  • District Fire Officer: 21 to 26 years

  • Deputy Superintendent of Jails: 18 to 28 years

  • Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/BC categories and 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates, as per state government rules.

APPSC Group 1 2026 Selection Process

The APPSC Group 1 selection is a rigorous three-tier process:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): An offline objective-type exam comprising two papers (120 marks each) testing General Studies, Mental Ability, and Current Affairs. This stage is qualifying in nature.

  2. Mains Examination: A conventional descriptive-type exam. It consists of two qualifying language papers (English and Telugu) and five General Studies papers (150 marks each) which determine the merit list.

  3. Personal Interview: Candidates who clear the Mains are called for an interview to evaluate their overall personality, administrative aptitude, and suitability for the role.
