The online application process is open for eligible Bihar residents who wish to secure an eligibility certificate for future librarian positions in government schools.

Important Dates

The Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026 is purely a qualifying examination designed to issue eligibility certificates to successful candidates. Because this is an eligibility test, this notification does not announce direct vacancies.

Education Details

• Candidates must be Indian citizens and domiciled residents of Bihar.

• Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 45% marks. A 5% relaxation in these qualifying marks is provided for SC, ST, EBC, BC, PwD, Women, and EWS candidates of Bihar.

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from a recognized university.

• The Alim degree from Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic & Persian University / Bihar State Madrasa Education Board, and the Shastri degree from Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University are considered equivalent to graduation.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 21 years old as of 01.08.2026. A special 10-year relaxation in the maximum age limit is granted to all categories for this exam under Rule 4.1(V) of the 2025 guidelines. The base maximum age limits (before the 10-year relaxation) are as follows:

• Unreserved (Male): 37 years

• Unreserved (Female): 40 years

• Backward Class (Male/Female): 40 years

• Extremely Backward Class (Male/Female): 40 years

• SC/ST (Male/Female): 42 years

Note: PwD candidates receive an additional 10-year relaxation, and Ex-Servicemen receive a 3-year relaxation plus their years of service (up to a maximum age of 57 years).

Selection Process

The exam consists of a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT) spanning 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes). A normalization process will be applied to calculate final scores if the exam is held across multiple shifts.

• Exam Pattern: 150 Multiple Choice Questions carrying 1 mark each (100 marks for Library Science + 50 marks for General Knowledge). There is no negative marking.

• Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • General: 50%

  • Backward Class (BC): 45.5%

  • Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 42.5%

  • SC / ST / PwD / Women: 40%

Application Fee

• General / BC / EBC: Rs. 960/-

• SC / ST / PwD: Rs. 760/-

How to Apply

1. Visit the BSEB SLET Registration portal at sletregistration.cbrt.co.in.

2. Click on “Registration”, enter the requested details, generate an OTP, and complete the registration to receive a User ID and Password via SMS.

3. Log in with the provided User ID and Password.

4. Fill in all personal and educational details in the application form.

5. Upload a recent scanned color photograph (80kb to 200kb, light background) and signature (50kb to 200kb).

6. Upload self-attested copies of required certificates (10th, 12th, Graduation, Library Science degree, domicile, and category/caste certificates).

7. Pay the examination fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

8. Review the details using the “Preview” button, make any necessary corrections, and click “Save/Submit”.

9. Download and retain a hard copy of the final form for future reference.
