CSIR Technician Eligibility Criteria 2026: Educational Qualification & Experience

• Standard Qualification: SSC / 10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks) along with an ITI Certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the respective trade.
• Apprentice Trainee Route: SSC / 10th standard with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks) plus 2 years full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognized institution in the relevant trade.
• Work Experience Route: SSC / 10th standard with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks) plus 3 years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry, Government Department, PSU, or Autonomous Body.

CSIR Technician Salary 2026: Pay Scale & Allowances

• Pay Scale: Pay Matrix Level-2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200/-).
• Allowances & Benefits: In addition to the basic pay, selected technicians receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), Children’s Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), and Medical Reimbursement as per Central Government and CSIR rules.
• Pension Scheme: New recruits are governed by the National Pension System (NPS).

CSIR Technician Selection Process & Exam Pattern

1. Screening: Shortlisting of applications by the Screening Committee.
2. Trade Test: Shortlisted candidates must appear for a trade test in the respective subject, which is qualifying in nature.
3. Competitive Written Examination (OMR / Computer Based):
   • Paper-I (Time: 1 Hour): Mental Ability Test (50 Questions / 100 Marks; No negative marking).
   • Paper-II (Time: 30 Minutes): General Awareness (25 Qs / 75 Marks) & English Language (25 Qs / 75 Marks); 1 negative mark per wrong answer.
   • Paper-III (Time: 1 Hour): Concerned Subject / Trade (50 Questions / 150 Marks); 1 negative mark per wrong answer.
   • Note: Paper-II and Paper-III will only be evaluated for candidates clearing threshold marks in Paper-I. The final merit list is prepared strictly based on the combined marks of Paper-II and Paper-III.
