GSET 2026: The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara has released the information bulletin for the 20th Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) 2026. This exam determines the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in various universities and colleges across Gujarat. The test will be conducted in 36 subjects across 12 designated examination centres in the state. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official website.

GSET 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Before proceeding with the application and fee payment, applicants must ensure they fulfill the required academic criteria:
1. Educational Qualifications
General / Unreserved / General-EWS: Candidates must have completed a UGC-specified Master’s Degree (or equivalent) with at least 55% marks (without rounding off).
Reserved Categories (SC, ST, SEBC-Non-Creamy Layer, PwD, Third Gender): Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks (without rounding off).
Awaiting Results / Final Year Students: Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or have appeared for their final year exams and are awaiting results are eligible to apply provisionally. They must clear their Master’s degree with the required percentage within two years from the date of the GSET result declaration.
Ineligibility Criteria: Students currently studying in the first year (or first two semesters) of a regular Master’s program, or in the fourth year of a 5-year Integrated Master’s Course, are not eligible to appear for this test.
2. Age Limit
There is no upper age limit specified to apply for GSET eligibility for Assistant Professor.
3. Domicile Policy
Reservation benefits are strictly applicable to candidates who are domiciled residents of Gujarat state holding valid state-issued certificates. Central Government OBC certificates are not acceptable for SEBC candidates. Candidates belonging to reserved categories from other states will be treated as General category candidates.
GSET 2026 Application Fee
The examination fee varies by category and must be paid strictly via online modes (Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking):
General / General-EWS / SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Rs. 900/- + Applicable Bank Charges
SC / ST / Third Gender: Rs. 700/- + Applicable Bank Charges
Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Rs. 100/- + Applicable Bank Charges
Note: Fees or processing charges once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Traditional payment instruments such as Demand Drafts, Money Orders, or Postal Orders will not be accepted.
GSET 2026 Scheme of Examination
The GSET 2026 will follow an objective-type layout consisting of two mandatory papers. Both papers will feature multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with no negative markings for incorrect answers.
GSET 2026 Examination Structure
Paper I (General Nature): Focuses on assessing teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. It features 50 compulsory questions totaling 100 marks (Time: 09:30 AM to 10:30 AM).
Paper II (Subject-Specific): Based strictly on the subject selected by the candidate during the application. It features 100 compulsory questions totaling 200 marks (Time: 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM).
The question papers will be provided in both English and Gujarati formats, except for language papers (offered in their respective languages) and science subjects (offered exclusively in English).
How to Apply for GSET 2026
Candidates must complete their application online through the official gateway at www.gujaratset.ac.in.
Step 1 (Fee Payment): Visit the website, complete the online fee transaction, and download the payment receipt. Carefully preserve the Order Number and Payment Reference ID (Easepay ID).
Step 2 (Online Registration): Log in to the portal using your payment IDs to open the application form. Upload a recent scanned passport-size photograph in JPEG format (file size must not exceed 100kb).
Submission: Verify all details carefully as no corrections or changes to categories/subjects will be permitted after final submission. Print out and preserve the completed application form for future verification processes.
Registered candidates can download their hall tickets from the official website 7 days prior to the day of the examination. No hard copies of hall tickets or certificates will be sent by post.
