Educational Details & GATE Requirements
Candidates must fulfill specific academic qualifications along with a valid GATE score matching the relevant paper codes:
Computer Science and Information Technology (GATE Paper Code: CS): Candidate must hold a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, Software Systems, Cyber Security, or related allied lines. Alternatively, a Master’s Degree in Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science/IT or a Master’s in Computer Applications (MCA) is acceptable. A valid GATE score (2024, 2025, or 2026) in the CS paper is mandatory.
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (GATE Paper Code: DA): Requires a 4-year B.E./B.Tech. or a Master’s Degree in Science/Specialized applications with core domains focusing on Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or Cryptography. A valid GATE score (2024, 2025, or 2026) in the DA paper is mandatory.
Electronics and Communication Engineering (GATE Paper Code: EC): Candidates must hold a 4-year B.E./B.Tech. or a Master’s Degree in Science focused on Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Robotics, or Mechatronics. A valid GATE score (2024, 2025, or 2026) in the EC paper is mandatory.
Note: Candidates must have cleared their essential qualifying examinations completely on or before the cut-off date of August 17, 2026. No professional work experience is required to apply.
Salary Structure
The designated positions fall under direct central government rules carrying executive-level pay scales:
Post Grade: Equivalent to Group-‘A’ Gazetted officers.
Pay Matrix: Level-10 under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Pay Scale Entry: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month, accompanying usual allowances as admissible under Central Government norms.

Maximum Age for Unreserved (UR) & EWS: 30 Years
Category-Wise Upper Age Relaxations:
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Up to 33 Years
SC / ST Candidates: Up to 35 Years

Selection Process
The final recruitment of the scientists will run through a multi-tiered merit evaluation layout:
Shortlisting Matrix: Candidates will be compiled into a domain-wise and category-wise merit list based on their registered GATE score. BCI will call candidates for face-to-face interaction in a strict 1:5 ratio per vacancy. Equal weightage is designated for GATE 2024, 2025, and 2026 points.
Document Verification: Mandatorily conducted right before the oral interview round. Candidates will also be required to validate their GATE metrics live on-screen via the GATE portal.
Personal Interaction/Interview: Evaluated out of a maximum of 50 marks, screening technical knowledge, communication skills, and academic consistency. Candidates must secure at least 50% (40% for reserved categories) to qualify the interview.
Final Merit Preparation: Compiled by computing a 60% weightage of the GATE Score and a 40% weightage of the Interview Marks.
