Educational Qualification
- Academic Requirement: Candidates must have passed 10th Class examination (or its equivalent under 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
- Technical Requirement: Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NCVT) in the designated/notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training.
- Employment Exchange: Registration with the nearest Employment Exchange is mandatory (except for wards of RCF Kapurthala employees).

Selection Process
- Merit List Generation: Selection will be based strictly on a merit list calculated from the simple average of percentage marks obtained in 10th/Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI marks in the specified trade $\text{[(Matriculation \% + ITI \%) / 2]}[cite: 2]$.
- Tie-Breaker Rules: If candidates share equal marks, preference will be given to the older candidate. If birth dates are identical, the candidate who passed 10th earlier will rank higher.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates (1.5 times the slots) will be called for document verification.
- Medical Fitness: Final engagement is subject to producing a Medical Fitness Certificate signed by a Government Authorized Gazetted Doctor (not below Assistant Surgeon rank).
Training Period & Stipend
- Stipend: Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board.
- Accommodation: No hostel accommodation will be provided by RCF Kapurthala; candidates must arrange their own lodging during the training period.
