OSSC Recruitment 2026 Education Details
To be eligible for the Food Safety Officer post, applicants must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Bio-Technology, Agricultural Science, Oil Technology, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry, or Microbiology from a recognized University.
- OR a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Dental Surgery, Homeopathic Medicine, Unani Medicine, Siddha Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, or Sowa Rigpa Medicine.
- OR a Master’s or Doctorate Degree in the relevant disciplines mentioned above, including Chemistry.
- Additionally, candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Computer Applications.
- The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak Odia fluently and have passed a relevant Odia language examination (such as Middle School or Matriculation with Odia as a subject).
Salary
- Appointed candidates will be compensated under Pay Matrix Level-9, Cell-1 of ORSP, 2017.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 21 Years as on 01.01.2025.
- Maximum Age: 42 Years as on 01.01.2025.
- Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST, and all Women candidates, and by 10 years for PwD candidates.
Selection Process
The competitive examination for the Food Safety Officer post comprises three stages:
- Stage I (Preliminary Examination): An objective-type test (CBRE/OMR) consisting of 150 questions for 150 marks, with a duration of 150 minutes. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
- Stage II (Main Written Examination & Computer Skill Test): A technical paper (CBRE/OMR) comprising 100 questions for 200 marks, with a duration of 150 minutes and a negative marking of 0.5 marks per wrong answer. Candidates for this post must also qualify a Computer Skill Test where the qualifying mark is 50%.
- Stage III (Certificate Verification): Candidates shortlisted based on their Main Written Examination and Computer Skill Test scores will be called for document verification.

- General/SEBC Candidates: Rs. 500/-.
- SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Exempted from the fee.
- The fee paid is refundable to those candidates who actually appear in the first stage of the recruitment examination.
