RMS CET 2026: Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) are premier English-medium residential public schools operating under the Ministry of Defence. Established to provide quality education and prepare cadets for careers as officers in the Defence Services, these institutions cater to the wards of defence personnel and civilians from Class VI to XII. Admissions into Class VI and IX are conducted through the OMR-based Common Entrance Test (CET). The upcoming RMS CET 2026 will select candidates for the academic session 2027-2028.

• SC / ST / Wards of Personnel Killed in Action (KIA): Rs 750/-

• (Note: A late fee of Rs 500/- is applicable for submissions during the late registration window)

School Fee and Caution Money Structure

The annual tuition fee and one-time caution money payable across different categories are detailed below:

Important Fee Terms & Exemptions

• Payment Timeline: The school fee is payable annually and must be deposited directly with the school at the time of admission.

• Caution Money Refund: Caution money is collected during admission and refunded without interest upon the student’s final discharge from the school.

• Wards of Personnel Killed in Action (KIA): No tuition fee or caution money is charged from the wards of Officers, JCOs, ORs, or their equivalents in the Navy and Air Force who were killed in action.

Pocket Money Account

• Initial Deposit: A minimum mandatory deposit of Rs 10,000/- must be deposited into the cadet’s Pocket Money Account across all categories to cover personal expenses.

• Minimum Balance: A minimum operating balance of Rs 4,000/- must be maintained in the Pocket Money Account at all times.

Other Incidental & Academic Expenses

• Application / Entrance Exam Fee:

  • General / OBC / OBC (NCL): Rs 1,000/-

  • SC / ST / Wards of Personnel Killed in Action (KIA): Rs 750/-

  • Late fee (if registered during the extended window): Rs 500/- additional

• Textbooks & Stationery: Textbooks are not provided free of charge by the school and must be purchased by the cadet. Standardized stationery items are to be procured from the designated school store to ensure uniformity.

• Uniforms, Kit & Clothing: Parents/guardians of non-entitled categories (Civilian and Officer wards) are required to purchase and provide all specified uniform, bedding, and daily-use items (excluding mattresses) at their own cost upon joining.

• Tours & Extracurricular Activities: Residential school visits, tours, and specific co-curricular programs may require additional ad-hoc payments as communicated by the respective school authorities.

Scholarships & Fee Concessions

A total of 15% of non-entitled cadets (wards of service officers and civilians) can receive means-cum-merit scholarships through a test administered by Army Headquarters:

• Full Tuition Fee Exemption: Awarded to cadets whose family income is less than Rs 3,00,000/- in a financial year.

• Half Tuition Fee Exemption (50% Fee): Charged to cadets whose family annual income is between Rs 3,00,000/- and Rs 4,50,000/-.

RMS CET 2026: How to Apply

• Step 1: Visit the official NTA RMS CET portal to register online using a valid Email ID and Mobile Number.

• Step 2: Fill out the detailed online application form and note down the system-generated Registration Number.

• Step 3: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, which include the candidate’s passport-size photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, date of birth certificate, domicile certificate, and applicable category certificates.

• Step 4: Pay the application fee using a Debit/Credit Card, Net-banking, or UPI.

• Step 5: Download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.

RMS CET 2026: Exam Pattern

Class VI Exam Pattern

The Class VI entrance exam is a single OMR-based paper based on the Class V standard syllabus. It lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, is available in both English and Hindi, and has no negative marking.

*Candidates must score the minimum qualifying percentage in English, but these marks are not counted toward the final merit list.

Class IX Exam Pattern

The Class IX entrance exam is an OMR-based test based on the Class VIII standard syllabus. It consists of two objective papers conducted in a single 2 hour and 30 minute session, is available exclusively in English, and carries no negative marking.
