Course Details: Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.)
APFU offers a four year (8 semesters) professional degree programme, Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc) with courses from eight Departments namely Aquaculture, Aquatic Animal Health Management, Fisheries Resource Management, Aquatic Environment Management, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Engineering, Fisheries Extension and Fisheries Economics & Statistics. First seven semesters, students will be undergoing classroom teaching and practical classes, which include both laboratory experience and field visits. Whereas during the last semester, students underwent the Student READY (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) programme. It is conceptualized to reorient fisheries graduates for ensuring and assuring employability and to develop entrepreneurs for emerging knowledge-intensive fisheries by articulating knowledge, skill, ability and experiences. The students will undergo the Fisheries Work Experience Programme (FIWEP) and the Fisheries Entrepreneurship Oriented Programme (FIEOP) during the 8th semester. The APFU has also been offering Master’s and Ph.D programmes.

Academic Qualifications
- Candidates must have passed the two-year Intermediate Examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, or a Vocational Course in Fishery Science, or an equivalent recognized examination.
- Required Subjects: Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences / Natural Sciences.
- Entrance Exam: There is no separate entrance exam for this course; admission is based exclusively on the state-level rank obtained in the AP EAPCET 2026.
Age Limit (As of 31st December 2026)
- General Category: 17 to 22 years (Born between 01 Jan 2005 – 31 Dec 2009).
- SC & ST Candidates: 17 to 25 years (Born between 01 Jan 2002 – 31 Dec 2009).
- Physically Challenged: 17 to 27 years (Born between 01 Jan 2000 – 31 Dec 2009).
Criteria for Selection:
The admission process in the BFSc Course is carried out duly following the G.O. Ms. No. 184 Dt: 20.08.1993 Govt. of A.P. The selection of candidates for all the seats shall be made on the basis of ranks obtained by the candidates in A.P EAPCET 2026. The candidates will be selected based on merit, presidential order, region and social status. State Level Rank only will be considered.
Important Reservation Categories
- Farmer’s Quota (25%): A significant portion of seats is reserved for applicants from agricultural families who own at least one acre of land and have studied in non-municipal area schools for a minimum of four years. Eligible candidates must provide Form-I (Agricultural Land Holding Certificate) and Form-II (Non-Municipal Area Certificate).
- Women’s Quota: 33% of seats are reserved for women across all categories.
- Local Candidates (85%): Reserved for candidates from the Andhra University and Sri Venkateswara University regions in a 65.62 to 34.38 ratio, respectively.
- Social and Special Reservations: Includes provisions for EWS (10%), Backward Classes (29%), Scheduled Caste (15%), Scheduled Tribe (6%), and Special Categories such as CAP, NCC, Physically Challenged, and Sports.

Based on Merit in AP EAPCET 2026 duly following Presidential Order & Rule of reservation and based on the web-options given by the candidate, the seat allotment will be done
Fee Structure
Registration Fee
The candidates must pay online registration fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) for General and BC candidates and Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) in case of SC, ST & PH (Differently Abled) candidates at the time of uploading online application before last date.
- General & BC Candidates: Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 2000/- with late fee).
- SC, ST & PH Candidates: Rs. 500/- (Rs. 1000/- with late fee).
Admission & Course Fee
Upon successful admission, students are required to pay a total of Rs. 51,200/-. This comprehensive fee covers:
- University Fund Fee: Rs. 15,140/-
- Non-University Fund Fee: Rs. 11,950/-
- Hostel Room Rent (per semester): Rs. 2,110/-
- Hostel Deposit (Refundable): Rs. 11,000/-
- Mess Deposit (Refundable): Rs. 11,000/-
