MeitY Digital India Internship 2026: Eligibility, Dates, How to Apply


The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has launched the Digital India Internship Scheme 2026. This program provides Indian college students with an invaluable opportunity to gain first-hand, practical work experience under the guidance of experienced mentors within the government sector. Education Details

To be eligible for the MeitY Digital India Internship 2026, students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized institution in India and must have secured at least 60% marks in their previous degree or certificate examination. The specific eligible streams include:

  • B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech / MSc / MCA / DOEACC ‘B’ level (focusing on Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related technical fields).

  • LLB (for domains related to Cyber Law, Internet Public Policy, etc.).

  • B.A / M.A in Economics or Statistics (for domains related to the Digital Economy).

    (Note: Students who are in their final semester and will pass out in the summer of 2026 are strictly not eligible. Only students in their second-to-last year can apply.)

Stipend

Selected interns will be awarded a consolidated stipend of ₹10,000/- per month. Over the standard two-month duration, an intern will earn up to ₹20,000/-. The stipend is released upon satisfactory performance, duly certified by the assigned supervisor/mentor, along with an official Internship Certificate at the end of the term.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for the MeitY internship focuses on merit, domain requirements, and relevant academic background:

  • Shortlisting: Applications will be screened and scrutinized by the respective MeitY organizations, groups, or divisions based on academic performance.

  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a Personal or Skype Interview to evaluate their suitability for the intended domain.

  • Final Merit List: The final list of selected interns will be uploaded and displayed directly on the MeitY web portal.

How to Apply

  • Step 1: Visit the official MeitY Internship Portal at intern.meity.gov.in.

  • Step 2: Click on “Register” and complete the basic registration by providing your name, email ID, and mobile number to generate a unique password.

  • Step 3: Validate your registration by entering the One Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered email address.

  • Step 4: Navigate to the ‘Intern Registration’ section and log in using your newly created credentials.

  • Step 5: Fill out the detailed application form, ensuring you accurately provide your academic details, domain preferences, and personal information.

  • Step 6: Upload all required scanned documents, including a recent passport-size photograph, signature, previous mark sheets, and the mandatory Recommendation Letter (NOC) from your sponsoring institution.

  • Step 7: Carefully review the entire form and submit your application before the closing date.

  • Step 8: Download and print a copy of the submitted application form for future reference, and use your credentials to track your application status via the portal dashboard.
