The NIC has announced a total of 376 vacancies for the post of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A. The vacancies are distributed across various categories, including a significant number for Unreserved and OBC candidates, along with reserved seats for SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD categories.

NIC Recruitment 2026 Education Details

Candidates must possess a passing certificate in M.Sc. / MS / MCA / B.E. / B.Tech in one of the following disciplines:

• Electronics

• Electronics & Telecommunication
• Computer Sciences
• Computer and Networking Security
• Software System
• Information Technology
• Informatics

Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must have a valid GATE Score for the years 2024, 2025, or 2026 in one of the following papers:

2. Electronics & Communication Engineering (EC)
3. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA)

Salary

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-6 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

• Pay Scale: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
• Basic Pay: ₹35,400

Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and others as admissible.

Age Limit

The upper age limit is calculated as on the crucial date mentioned in the detailed notification.

• General / EWS: 30 Years
• OBC (NCL): 33 Years
• SC / ST: 35 Years
• PwBD: 10 Years relaxation (plus category relaxation)

Selection Process

The selection will be based solely on the merit of the GATE Score.

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their valid GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 score in the relevant stream (CS, EC, or DA).

2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original documents.

• Note: There will be no written examination or interview for the post of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A.
