Education Details

To apply for the OPSC OCS Recruitment 2026, candidates must fulfill the following educational criteria:

  • Applicants must hold a full-time Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a nationally or state-recognized university or institution.

  • Language Requirement: The candidate must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the Odia language. Additionally, they must have passed the Middle School examination with Odia as a language/subject, or passed the HSC (or equivalent) examination with Odia as a medium of examination in a non-language subject.

Salary

Appointed candidates will be placed under a highly lucrative pay scale in accordance with the ORSP Rules, 2017:

  • Group A Services: Placed in Pay Level 12, Cell-1 with a basic salary of Rs. 56,100/- per month.

  • Group B Services: Placed in Pay Level 10, Cell-1 with a basic salary of Rs. 44,900/- per month.

Age Limit

Candidates applying for the examination must fall within the required age bracket as of 1st January 2025:

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years

  • Maximum Age: 38 Years

  • Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women/Ex-Servicemen categories and by 10 years for PwD candidates having a permanent disability of 40% or more.

Selection Process

The Odisha Civil Services Examination is conducted in three comprehensive stages to filter and select the most capable individuals:

  1. Preliminary Examination: An objective-type screening test consisting of two General Studies papers (400 marks total).

  2. Mains Examination: A descriptive written exam comprising compulsory qualifying language papers and core merit-based papers.

  3. Personality Test / Interview: The final stage carrying 250 marks, designed to assess the candidate’s personal suitability, leadership qualities, and mental alertness.
