Vacancy & Eligibility Details

The OSSTET is an eligibility test for prospective teachers in Odisha. While it does not guarantee a vacancy, it is a mandatory criterion for recruitment in government and aided schools. The 2026 exam was conducted for two categories: Paper 1 for Trained Graduate Teachers (Arts/Science/Languages) and Paper 2 for Physical Education Teachers.

Education Details

  • General Eligibility: Candidates must be Indian citizens and be able to read and write Odia.

  • Paper 1 (TGT/Languages): Requires a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC) and a B.Ed. or equivalent training degree.

Salary & Pay Scale

As an eligibility test, OSSTET itself does not offer a salary. However, candidates who qualify OSSTET are eligible for Odisha secondary teacher recruitments where the standard pay scale for Group B posts (Level-9) ranges from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years.

  • Maximum Age: 42 years (as of January 1, 2025).

  • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women candidates and 10 years for PwD candidates.

Selection Process

The qualifying process consists of:

  1. Written Test: 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each.

  2. Minimum Qualifying Marks: General category candidates require 45% (revising from 60% in some contexts), while reserved category candidates require 35% to pass.
