OTET 2026 Exam Details
The OTET examination is conducted in two separate levels to certify teachers for different class groups. Paper-I is designated for candidates applying to teach primary classes (Class I to V). Paper-II is meant for candidates aspiring to teach upper primary classes (Class VI to VIII). Candidates who possess the requisite educational and professional qualifications for both levels are permitted to appear for both Paper-I and Paper-II. Passing this examination validates a candidate’s eligibility to participate in teaching recruitment drives across the state.
OTET 2026 Eligibility Details
There is no specific upper age limit required to appear for the OTET exam. Candidates must meet the following educational criteria:
For Paper-I (Primary Teacher – Classes I to V):
Higher Secondary (+2 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
OR Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
OR Graduation combined with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
For Paper-II (Upper Primary Teacher – Classes VI to VIII):
Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
OR Graduation with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) / B.Ed (Special Education).
OR Higher Secondary (+2 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed.
Exam Pattern
Mode of Examination: Offline (OMR-based)
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes) for each paper.
Total Marks: 150 marks per paper (1 mark for each correct answer).
Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect attempts.
Paper I Subjects: Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), Language-II English (30 marks), Mathematics (30 marks), and Environmental Studies (30 marks).
Paper II Subjects: Child Development & Pedagogy (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), Language-II English (30 marks), and an Optional Subject grouping (Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies) for 60 marks.
Application Fee
Candidates are required to pay the application fee online to successfully submit their forms.
For SC & ST Category: Rs. 400/-
For General and All Other Categories: Rs. 600/-
(Payment can be processed via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI gateways.)
How to Apply
Visit the official website of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha: bseodisha.ac.in.
On the homepage, navigate to the “Examination” tab and select “OTET Examination”.
Click on the link titled “Online Application for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test OTET- 2026.”
If you are a new user, click on “New Registration”. Enter your name, mobile number, email ID, and create a password. Verify your registration using the OTP sent to your phone/email.
Log in using your newly generated credentials and fill out the complete application form with your personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information.
Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and necessary documents in the required format.
Proceed to the “Payment & Declaration” section to pay the applicable examination fee.
Click “Final Submit” and download or print a copy of the final application form for future reference.
