Eligibility & Nationality
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Status: Only regular Stenographer Grade ‘D’ employees of the participating services are eligible to apply.
Condition: Candidates must have rendered a specific length of regular continuous service (usually 3 to 5 years depending on the cadre) as of the crucial date mentioned in the notification.
Education Details
Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard (Intermediate) or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Since this is a departmental exam, the candidate must already be holding a permanent or officiating post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’ in the designated services.
Pay Scale
Selected candidates for the Grade ‘C’ Stenographer post will be placed in the following pay structure:
Pay Level: Level-7 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Pay Matrix: ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400.
Grade Pay: ₹4,600 (Pre-revised).
Age Limit
Maximum Age: Generally, candidates should not exceed 50 years of age.
Age Relaxation: Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST candidates (up to 5 years) and other categories as per the prevailing Government of India orders regarding departmental examinations.
Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of two major stages:
Written Examination: A Computer-Based Examination (CBE) focusing on objective-type questions.
Stenography Skill Test: Candidates who clear the written exam must undergo a shorthand test at 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) in either English or Hindi.
Document Verification: Final scrutiny of service records and educational certificates.
