UPTET 2026 Exam Details
The UP TET examination is divided into two separate papers to test the teaching aptitude and subject knowledge of the candidates based on the classes they wish to teach:
- Paper 1 (Primary Level): Designed for candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 5.
- Paper 2 (Upper Primary Level): Designed for candidates who wish to teach Classes 6 to 8.
Candidates who wish to teach all classes from 1 to 8 must appear for and qualify in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
UPTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the specific educational qualifications laid out by the UPESSC. There is no upper age limit to apply for the UPTET Exam 2026.
For Paper 1 (Primary Level – Classes 1 to 5):
Class 12th (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC). OR
Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
Graduation degree and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). OR
Graduation with B.Ed (as per NCTE norms).
For Paper 2 (Upper Primary Level – Classes 6 to 8):
Graduation degree and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). OR
Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
Graduation degree with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed in accordance with NCTE regulations. OR
Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.El.Ed / B.A. B.Ed / B.Sc. B.Ed.
Application Fee

How to Apply
Follow these steps to successfully submit your UP TET 2026 application:
Visit the Official Portal: Go to the official UPESSC application website at uptet.upessc.org or upessc.up.gov.in.
New Registration: Click on the UPTET 2026 application link. If you are a new user, complete the registration by generating an OTP via your valid mobile number and email ID. AADHAR verification may be required.
Fill the Application Form: Log in with your registration number and fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, exam center preferences, and select your desired paper (Paper I, Paper II, or Both).
Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and your signature in the prescribed dimensions and formats.
Pay the Application Fee: Submit the required application fee via the online payment gateway (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or e-Challan).

Exam Pattern
The UPTET 2026 is an offline, pen-and-paper-based objective exam. Both papers contain 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 150 marks. The total duration for each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English).
