The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially declared the results for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XX (20) on January 7, 2026. This examination, which was conducted on November 30, 2025, serves as a mandatory qualifying test for law graduates aspiring to obtain the “Certificate of Practice” (CoP) and practice law in Indian courts. This year, a total of 2,51,968 candidates appeared for the exam, with an overall pass percentage of 69.21%. AIBE 20 Cutoff & Qualifying Marks

For the AIBE 20 exam, the BCI withdrew 5 questions from the original 100 questions due to technical discrepancies found during the objection review process. Consequently, the final result was calculated based on 95 marks. The revised qualifying marks are as follows:

  • General / OBC Category: 43 Marks (45% of 95 marks, rounded off).
  • SC / ST / PwD Category: 38 Marks (40% of 95 marks).

Candidates scoring equal to or above these marks are declared as “Pass” and are eligible for the Certificate of Practice.

Exam Details & Statistics

The AIBE 20 was a nationwide, offline (pen-and-paper) exam held at 399 centers in 56 cities. The question paper consisted of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering 19 law subjects, including Constitutional Law, IPC, CPC, and Family Law.

  • Male Candidates: 1,65,613 appeared; 1,13,063 qualified.
  • Female Candidates: 86,336 appeared; 61,310 qualified.
  • Transgender Candidates: 19 appeared; 13 qualified.
  • Questions Withdrawn: 5 questions were dropped across all sets (A, B, C, D), and full marks were awarded for those.
