Selection Criteria
The selection process for the Bihar Police SI post is divided into four distinct stages. Candidates must qualify for each stage to proceed to the next:
- Preliminary Written Exam: A screening test to shortlist candidates for the Mains.
- Main Written Exam: Consists of two papers; the marks of Paper II determine the final merit list.
- Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Mandatory qualifying stages involving running, high jump, long jump, and shot put.
- Medical Examination & Document Verification: Final stage ensuring medical fitness and valid credentials.
Bihar Police SI Exam Pattern
The written examination is conducted in two phases: Prelims and Mains. Both exams consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There is a negative marking of 0.2 marks for every incorrect answer in both stages.
Preliminary Examination
The Prelims exam serves as a qualifying round. Candidates must score at least 30 percent to be eligible for the Mains.

- परीक्षा लिखित वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रकार की होगी।
- मुख्य लिखित परीक्षा में दो पेपर शामिल होंगे
- प्रत्येक पेपर 02 घंटे का समय अवधि का होगा।
- पेपर – I में, सामान्य हिंदी सेक्शन में 200 अंकों के 100 प्रश्न होंगे।
- पेपर I में 30% क्वालिफाइंग मार्क्स होंगे।
- पेपर- I के ये मार्क्स मेरिट लिस्ट में शामिल नहीं होंगे।
- पेपर – II में, सामान्य अध्ययन, सामान्य विज्ञान, नागरिक शास्त्र, भारतीय इतिहास, भारतीय भूगोल, गणित और मानसिक योग्यता में 200 अंकों के 100 प्रश्न होंगे।
