Who is Raman Rajamannan, Kerala’s Tribal King

Raman Rajamannan, the tribal king of Kerala’s Mannan community, has been invited to attend the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on Sunday.

Rajamannan, 39, serves as the ceremonial leader of the Mannan tribe while leading a modest life as a farmer in Kozhimala, a tribal settlement in Idukki district. Despite his royal title, he has no palace or official vehicle and resides in a simple concrete house. He shares the responsibility of managing a local temple with his family.

First mother-son duo to receive Presidential Awards in same year

In a historic first, a mother-son duo has been conferred with prestigious Presidential Awards in the same year, marking a proud moment for the Indian Armed Forces.

Lieutenant General Sadhna S. Nair, VSM, received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in recognition of her exceptional service and leadership in the Army. Meanwhile, her son, Squadron Leader Tarun Nair, was honored with the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his exemplary courage and valor in the Indian Air Force.

Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, will grace the India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartvya Path in the national capital on Sunday.

Uniform Civil Code: Uttarakhand is set to become the first state in independent India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), on January 27, a move that has stirred political debates and national attention.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will also launch the UCC portal on the same day at 12:30 pm at the Secretariat. According to officials, Uttarakhand will be the first state in independent India to implement UCC.

Radio Mirchi Wins Election Commission Award For Voter Awareness Campaign

Radio Mirchi, part of the Times Group, won the Election Commission’s award in the Electronic Media (Radio) category for its voter awareness campaign during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

President Droupadi Murmu honoured Radio Mirchi with this award on the occasion of the 15th National Voters’ Day. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and other dignitaries were present at the event.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Trade Report for 2023, issued by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat), highlighted the region’s significant position in global trade.

The GCC ranked sixth globally in the volume of trade in goods index, accounting for 3.4 per cent of the total global trade in goods. The region’s trade volume reached $1.5 trillion in 2023, reflecting a 4.0 per cent decrease compared to 2022.
