ECGC Probationary Officer Jobs: Eligibility Criteria

Nationality / Citizenship: A candidate must be either –

1. a Citizen of India or
2. a subject of Nepal or
3. a subject of Bhutan or
4. a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1^st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India

Educational Qualifications

• Generalist Posts: Bachelor’s Degree/ Graduate in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

• Specialist Posts (Rajbhasha/Hindi): Master’s degree in Hindi/Hindi Translation with English as a core subject at the Bachelor’s level, or Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a core subject. Candidates should have a minimum of 55% (SC/ST) or 60% (Others) in their Master’s degree.

Age Limit (as on 01.11.2025)

Minimum: 21 years, Maximum: 30 years

i.e., A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.11.1995 and not later than 01.11.2004 (both the dates inclusive).

Pay Scale / Salary Details

The selected candidates for the ECGC PO posts will be paid a monthly salary as per the pay scale: ₹88,635 – ₹1,69,025. Additionally, allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and others are applicable, taking the total compensation to around ₹20 lakh per annum, especially for candidates posted in metro cities.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be based on the following stages:

1. Online Examination: The exam will consist of an objective test and a descriptive test. The objective test will cover subjects like Reasoning Ability, English Language, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude.

2. Interview: Candidates who qualify the online examination will be called for an interview. The final merit list will be based on the combined performance in both the online examination and the interview.
