SCERT Assam D.El.Ed PET 2026: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, has released the official information brochure for the Pre-Entry Test (PET)-2026. This state-level entrance test is conducted to shortlist candidates for admission into the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the upcoming 2026-28 academic session. Eligible youths who are permanent residents of Assam and wish to pursue a teaching career at the elementary school level are encouraged to apply. It should be noted, however, that successfully acquiring this diploma does not automatically guarantee a candidate’s recruitment in government elementary schools.

Assam 2-year D.El.Ed. course: Eligibility Details

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] examination from recognized Boards or Councils.

  • Applicants must possess at least 50% marks in aggregate, excluding the marks secured in the optional, extra, or fourth subject.

  • There is a 5% aggregate marks relaxation provided for candidates belonging to SC, ST(P), and ST(H) categories.

  • Age Limit: The candidate must be at least 18 years old and not more than 34 years of age as of 1st July, 2026.

  • An upper age relaxation of 2 years is granted to candidates from SC, ST(P), and ST(H) categories.

  • Residency: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the state of Assam.

Fee Structure

  • Government TEIs: The annual fee includes an admission fee of Rs. 150 and tuition fees of Rs. 1,200 (calculated at Rs. 100 per month). Additional costs include electricity fees (Rs. 600 for non-hostelers or Rs. 900 for hostelers) and an examination fee of Rs. 2,000 for regular candidates.

  • Private Institutions: The total annual fee for a private institution is fixed at Rs. 34,000. This amount covers various expenses including Rs. 2,000 for admission, Rs. 21,600 for tuition (Rs. 1,800 per month), a Rs. 5,000 college development fee, and other miscellaneous charges like library and examination fees.

Application Fee

  • Candidates across all categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 600.00 (Rupees Six Hundred Only).

  • The fee must be paid exclusively via online modes such as Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI during the online application submission.

Selection Procedure

  • Candidates will need to appear for the 100-mark Pre-Entry Test (PET)-2026, which comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

  • A district-wise merit list will be prepared based on the marks candidates secure in the PET.

  • Seats in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) will be allotted based on district merit, with a reservation policy allocating 30% of total seats for the Science stream and 70% for Arts & other streams.

How to Apply

  • Aspiring candidates must submit their application forms online by visiting the official portal at https://scertpet.co.in. No offline application forms will be entertained.

  • Applicants must first register on the portal using a valid mobile number, which should remain unchanged until the admission process concludes.

  • After accurately filling in details and making the online fee payment, an Acknowledgement Receipt with a unique Application ID will be generated, which must be kept safe for future reference.

  • Candidates are required to upload a color passport-size photograph (JPEG format, max 100 kb).

  • A scanned signature signed in black or dark blue ink on white paper must also be uploaded (JPEG format, max 100 kb, dimensions 3.5cm x 2.5cm).

  • Supporting PDF documents for age proof (Admit card/certificate of Class 10), HS Mark sheet, Caste Certificate, and PWD/EWS certificates must be uploaded, each not exceeding 450 kb in size.

Filling of OMR Sheet and Marking System

  • There will be four sets of Question Booklets (A/B/C/D) provided to candidates.

  • Candidates must use an OMR Answer Sheet to record their responses.

  • The evaluation of the OMR sheets will be done entirely through software, and no manual evaluation will be permitted.

  • Candidates must use only a Black or Blue Ball point pen to fill in their choices on the OMR sheet.

  • Every correct response will fetch 1 mark.

  • There is a negative marking scheme where 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response.

  • If a candidate selects more than one response for a single question, it will be automatically treated as an incorrect answer and penalized.

Exam Pattern

  • The total duration of the exam is 2 hours, covering 100 Multiple Choice Questions for 100 marks.

  • Section-I (35 Marks): Includes General English (10 Marks), General Knowledge (15 Marks), and Reasoning (10 Marks).

  • Section-II (65 Marks): Comprises General Mathematics (15 Marks), General Science & EVS (15 Marks), Social Science (20 Marks), and Language (Assamese/Bangla/Bodo/English) (15 Marks).
