TNSET 2025 Eligibility
Candidates who have secured
- At least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for General Category,
- 50% for Backward Classes/Most Backward Classes (MBC) / De-Notified Communities (DNC) / Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) and
- Persons with Disability (PWD-VH/PH), in Master Degree or equivalent examination from Universities / Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in subjects like Sciences, Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Sciences etc., are eligible to appear for this test.
Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the Master’s Degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally, and for those who clear the TNSET examination, an eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof of having passed the Master’s degree or equivalent examination securing.
- At least 55% marks (without rounding off) for the General Category and
- 50% for Backward Classes / Most Backward Classes (MBC) / De-Notified Communities (DNC) / Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) and
- Persons with Disability (PWD-VH/PH) within two years from the TNSET-2014 examination, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
The Ph.D. Degree holders who have completed the Master’s Degree on or before 19th September (irrespective of the declaration of the result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in the TNSET examination.
Candidates shall appear for the TNSET examination in the relevant subject of their Post-Graduation only. In case the Candidate did not find the subject of their post-graduation in the list of TNSET subjects, the Candidate may appear in UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET, which is held twice a year.
Candidates other than the General Category are required to mention their Social Status in the Online Application Form. Candidates may note that they should satisfy the eligibility conditions about the documents such as PG degree mark statement, Community Certificate and Certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) uploaded with their applications. The competent authority must issue the Community Certificates submitted by the candidates. If any of the Certificates mentioned above is found invalid by the TNSET agency at any stage, their candidature will be canceled and they shall be liable for legal action.
Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. The mere fact that an admission card has been issued to a candidate will not imply that the TNSET Centre has accepted his/her candidature. Candidates may note that candidature will be deemed final only upon verification of eligibility conditions.

Candidates can fill out application form fees online. Candidates can pay online, credit/debit card, and net banking, and by using E-challan application fees can be paid. Once it is paid by candidates, it will not be refunded back.
Candidates who are going to apply for TNSET have to deposit the following amount as category wise:
- General: Rs.2500/-
- BC/MBC/DNC: Rs.2000/-
- SC/ST/PWD -VI, HI, PH: Rs.800/-

How to Apply Online for TN SET 2025 Notification
The application can be filled only online; no other offline mode is available. Candidates have to fill out the application in the given format and upload a scanned image of a recent colored passport-size photograph and signature.
Instructions for filling Online Application Form:
- Download the Information Bulletin. Read it carefully to ensure your eligibility.
- Follow the steps given below to Apply Online:
Step 1: Apply for Online Registration using your Email ID and Mobile No.
Step 2: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system-generated Application Number. Upload scanned images of:- A recent passport-size photo (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) in color with 80% face (without mask) visible, including ears against a white background;
- Candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
Step 3: Pay the examination fee using a Debit or Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI, and keep proof of payment.
- The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the Candidate.
- Download, save, and print a copy of the Confirmation Page of the Application Form for future reference.

TNSET Syllabus 2025
The TNSET Syllabus 2025 Paper I and Paper II Exams will be Computer–Computer-based tests. They will comprise 150 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates will be given two and a half hours to attempt the same.

TNSET 2025 Exam Pattern
Candidates must know the detail of the TNSET exam pattern.
The TNSET would be conducted in the pattern of UGC-NET. Accordingly, the test will consist of two papers as in UGC-NET.
The test will consist of two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will be common to all the candidates, while Paper II will be based on the PG subject chosen by the candidates (as given in the TNSET list of subjects). Both the papers are only of objective type and multiple choice questions (MCQ) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. There will be no break between the papers.

- The medium of Question Paper shall be in English only except Paper II of language subjects (Tamil, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu).
- There is no negative mark for incorrect answers.
