APPSC Assistant Environmental Engineer Jobs 2026 Selection Process

The selection process for the APPSC Assistant Environmental Engineer post comprises two distinct evaluation stages:

  1. Single-Level Written Examination (CBRT): The Commission will conduct a single-level computer-based recruitment test (CBRT) of degree standard, eliminating any preliminary screening test irrespective of application volume. If conducted across multiple sessions, normalization of marks will be applied.

  2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): Candidates shortlisted from the written exam must qualify the practical CPT in “Proficiency in Office Automation with usage of Computers and Associated Software”. This test is purely qualifying in nature.

The written exam features two objective papers totaling 450 marks. While Paper-I awards 1 mark per question, Paper-II awards 2 marks per question, establishing the core technical subject as the primary scoring pillar. There is a negative marking penalty: each incorrect response results in a deduction of $1/3^{\text{rd}}$ of the marks prescribed for that question.

Qualifying Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) Pattern

The CPT carries 100 marks with a duration of 60 minutes. Minimum qualifying marks are:

  • OC Candidates: 40 Marks

  • BC Candidates: 35 Marks

  • SC / ST / PBD Candidates: 30 Marks

  • Memorize Environmental Standards and Thresholds: Focus on specific numbers under the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) norms, including ambient air quality limits, drinking water thresholds (IS 10500), and effluent discharge parameters.

  • Practice Numerical Calculations Daily: Work on pipe friction losses, Reynolds numbers, Bernoulli equations, stoichiometry, and thermodynamic mass balances to secure easy numerical marks without hesitation.

  • Stay Updated on AP State Schemes: Review contemporary state environmental initiatives, coastal zone rules, and development projects in Andhra Pradesh over the past 12 months for Paper-I current affairs.

  • Allocate Time for Practical CPT Drills: Dedicate 30 minutes twice a week to typing accuracy and spreadsheet formula modeling to clear the qualifying barrier comfortably.
