AP FA1 / Self Assessment-1 / CBA1 Exam Pattern, Marks Weightage, Syllabus 2026-27: AP SCERT has released the Academic Calendar for 2026-27. It has been mentioned that Formative Assessment-1 Exams will be conducted in August 2026. The Syllabus for June and July will be taken for the Exams. AP FA1 Syllabus for 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,10th Classes is given below. Check AP FA1 Time Table 2026. The exam for classes 1st to 8th will be CBA-1, and for classes 9th and 10th, it will be FA-1.

Note: For classes VIII, IX, and X, the Science Formative Assessment (FA) will consist of two papers: Physical Science (PS) and Biological Science (BS). Each paper will follow the same format as outlined above. The assessments should be conducted separately in different sessions. Other assessment tools should also be evaluated separately, and records should be maintained accordingly. However, the final results should be consolidated as a single subject when entering them.

AP Formative Assessment-1 Exam Schedule 2026-27

According to the AP Schools Academic Calendar 2026-27, Formative Assessment-1 examinations will be held from 3 to 6 August, 2026. For FA1, the Syllabus up to July 2026 will be taken.

For Classes 1 to 5, the exams will be conducted as classroom-based assessments, and for Classes 6 to 8, the exams will be conducted as Formative Assessments.

For English, there’s an additional focus on Reading Comprehension (15 marks), Prose and Stanza (10 marks), Grammar & Vocabulary (10 marks), and Creative Expression (10 marks). Classes 9 and 10 follow a similar structure but with subject-specific adjustments, such as 11×1=11 for Telugu and 15×1=15 for Hindi, reflecting a more detailed assessment.

AP FA1 / CBA 1 Lessons and Syllabus 2026-27

Formative Assessment (FA1) Exams will be conducted for the 9th and 10th Classes. As of the 2026 Exams, FA1 has been renamed CBA 1 (Classroom-Based Assessment) for 1st to 8th Classes. You must be familiar with the CBA Format.

The Blueprint mentions CBA. The following types of Questions are in the CBA Exam Paper.

Multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

An MCQ will contain a question stem with two to four logically framed options. The incorrect options will help identify students’ misconceptions. Students must pick one option among the choices given as the correct answer. MCQs have the following advantages:

  1. They help test various skills, from knowledge of facts to application and inference.
  2. They help pinpoint common errors made by students.
Free Response Questions (FRs)
  1. These are open-ended questions where students will write their own responses without any restrictions. These questions can include
  2. Fill in the blanks: Easy to construct
  3. Very short answers: Help test the writing skills of the students effectively
  4. Short Answers: Tested to check the writing and sentence creation skills of students, or to test the understanding or definition of a particular concept
  5. Long Answers:
  • When asked in Language, offer students an opportunity to demonstrate their thinking ability, creativity and writing skills.
  • In Mathematics, such questions help the teachers understand the thought process of a student based on the method the student uses to arrive at an answer, thereby, gauging the knowledge and understanding of a concept
