Cutoff and Passing Criteria

To qualify the CA Foundation examination, candidates must meet the strict passing requirements set by the ICAI. There is no variable “cutoff” in the traditional sense; instead, there is a fixed minimum score required to pass.

Subject-wise Passing Mark: A candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each of the four papers.
Aggregate Passing Mark: A candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all four papers (i.e., a total of 200 marks out of 400).
Negative Marking: For objective type papers (Paper 3 and Paper 4), 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for subjective papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2).
