Education Details

  • Qualification (As on 01.08.2026): Candidates must hold a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Degree Certificate Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid mark-sheet / degree certificate confirming graduation on or before the day of online registration and enter the exact aggregate percentage obtained during registration.
  • Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the mandatory local language of the applied state. Applicants who have studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard are exempted from the Language Proficiency Test (LPT).

Salary & Pay Scale

  • Pay Scale (JMGS I): Rs. 48,480 – 2,000/7 – 62,480 – 2,340/2 – 67,160 – 2,680/7 – 85,920.
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and other perquisites as per Bank rules.
  • Advance Increments: One advance increment in pay will be granted for each prior completed year of service as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank (subject to a maximum of 2 increments), provided the candidate’s previous job profile matches that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer at IOB.
  • Probation Period: 2 years of active service.
  • Service Bond: Selected candidates must execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of Rs. 2,00,000/- to serve the bank for a minimum of 3 years.

Selection Process

The selection procedure comprises three main stages:
  1. Online Examination:

    • Structure: 140 objective questions for 200 marks over a 3-hour duration with separate timing per section.
    • Subjects: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (30 Qs / 60 Marks), General/Economy/Banking Awareness (40 Qs / 40 Marks), Data Analysis & Interpretation (30 Qs / 60 Marks), and English Knowledge (40 Qs / 40 Marks).
    • Negative Marking: 1/4th (0.25) mark penalty for each wrong answer.
    • Qualifying Aggregate: 30% for reserved candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates.
  2. Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Mandatory for candidates shortlisted from the Online Exam who did not study the state’s local language in 10th or 12th standard. Qualifying in LPT is required to proceed to the interview.
  3. Personal Interview: Total 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 45% for reserved categories and 50% for unreserved categories.
  4. Final Weightage: Combined final merit list is drawn state-wise and category-wise based on aggregate scores of Online Exam and Interview in an 80:20 weightage ratio.
