The National Testing Agency has started accepting Applications for Phase-1 of JEE Main 2026 on 31 October 2025. The Last date for Online registrations is November 27. It has earlier released the JEE Main 2026 Notification Advisory on October 19, 2025The National Testing Agency will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)—2026 in CBT Mode in two sessions (January 2026 and April 2026). The exam will be held between January 21 to January 30, 2026. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages i.e., English, Hindi, Assemese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

JEE (Main) 2026 Notification

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE (Main) is being conducted in two Sessions i.e. Session 1 (January) and Session 2 (April), comprises two papers. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E./B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country.

To minimize the procedural difficulties of JEE (Main) – 2026 aspirants while filling the online application form, the National Testing Agency had issued a public notice on 29 September 2025. The primary objective of issuing this advisory was to support lakhs of aspirants across the country by encouraging timely and accurate updation. NTA will be obtaining Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Photograph and Address from UIDAI through Aadhaar Authentication (for updation in Aadhaar, please follow UIDAI guidelines). However, since Father/Mother/Guardian’s name etc. is not recorded in Aadhaar, candidates must fill such details separately in the online application form.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Highlights

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE (Main) comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE Main 2026 Registration Link

Introduction and Scheme of Examination

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI), has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Society Registration Act 1860 to conduct efficient, transparent, and international-standard tests to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions.
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.
Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

About JEE (Main) 2026

The JEE (Main)-2025 will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session. The students will have following benefits of the new pattern:

  • This will give one more opportunity to the students to improve their scores in examination if they fail to give their best in first attempt without wasting their whole academic year.
  • In first attempt, the students will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination and to know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the second time.
  • This will reduce chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.
  • If anyone missed the examination due to reasons beyond control, then he/she won’t have to wait for one full year.
  • The student’s best of the two NTA scores will be considered for the preparation of the Merit List/ Ranking.

JEE Main 2026 Eligibility

  • Candidates must qualify in 10+2 level from the recognized Board
  • Candidates who are completed Diploma can also apply for admission
  • Candidates must have passed in 12th Standard with subjects of Physics, Mathematics, along with Biology / Chemistry / Biotechnology in their academics
  • Candidates who are appearing 12th Class are also eligible to apply for JEE Main 2025.
  • Candidates must have qualified in 12th level with a minimum 75% to get admission in IITs, NITs, and CFTIs.
Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Examination or  any  equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 or 2019; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2025 are eligible to appear in January JEE(Main)-2025 Examination.

JEE Main 2026: List Of Qualifying Examinations

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
  • In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination

  • Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2025, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2025.
  • Candidates who passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2020 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2025 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2025.

JEE (Main) – 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  • Click on the New Registration process on the home page
  • Fill out the Registration form carefully with the required details
  • Enter your Valid Email ID and Phone Number in the registration process
  • Check the details once, Click on submit
  • Now Open the new application on the screen
  • Enter the required details such as Personal details, Educational details, etc carefully
  • Upload Scanned copies of Photograph and Signature
  • Apply and Make a Payment through online i.e. Debit card, net banking, etc
  • Save the application and Take a Printout of it for further reference.
