Jharkhand Home Defense Corps (झारखण्ड गृह रक्षा वाहिनी), Deoghar, has released an official recruitment advertisement (Advt. No. 01/2026) to recruit Home Guards (गृह रक्षक) across Rural and urban areas of Deoghar district. A total of 772 provisional vacancies have been advertised for both male and female candidates. Eligible candidates residing in the respective blocks and municipal areas of Deoghar district can submit their online applications through the official Jharkhand government recruitment portal between October 11, 2026, and October 26, 2026.

The total vacancy count is 772, split across rural and urban jurisdictions. In both categories, 50% of the seats are earmarked for women. Within the women’s quota, 5% of posts are reserved for eligible divorced, deserted, or widowed women.

1. Rural Home Guard (ग्रामीण गृह रक्षक) — 635 Posts

2. Urban Home Guard (शहरी गृह रक्षक) — 137 Posts

Note: In the Urban category, 50% of the positions are designated for technically skilled candidates (तकनीकी दक्ष) and 50% for non-technical candidates (गैर-तकनीकी).

Jharkhand Home Guard Jobs 2026 Eligibility Criteria

1. Residential Qualification (आवासीय)

• Rural Home Guard: Must be a permanent resident of the specific block of Deoghar district from which they are applying. A valid residential certificate issued by a competent authority must be attached.
• Urban Home Guard: Must be a resident of the urban municipal area of Deoghar district. A valid residential certificate issued by a competent authority must be attached.

2. Educational Qualification

• Rural Home Guard: Minimum Class 7th Pass from a recognized school.
• Urban Home Guard (Technical & Non-Technical): Minimum Matriculation (Class 10th Pass) from a recognized board.

3. Technical Qualification (For Urban Technical Category Only)

• Candidates must possess documented skill and work experience in technical trades such as: Doctor, Engineer, Advocate, Professor, Nurse, Computer Operator, Typist, Licensed Driver (HMV/LMV), Cook, Carpenter, Cobbler, Washerman, Barber, Electrician, Gardener, Plumber, etc. A technical competency certificate issued by an authorized authority is mandatory.

Physical measurement standards apply equally to both Rural and Urban applicants:

Honorarium & Remuneration

• Home Defense Corps is a voluntary organization.
• It is not a permanent salaried government post or permanent livelihood medium.
• Selected volunteers receive an official Daily Duty Allowance (भत्ता) at rates fixed by the Government of Jharkhand for the specific days they are deployed on duty.

Age Limit

• Age Bracket: Candidates must be aged between 19 and 40 Years as on January 01, 2026.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The selection comprises physical testing, written ability, and technical evaluation:

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 1 Mile Run, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put

• 1-Mile Run (Rural & Non-Technical Urban):
  • Male: 5 minutes or earlier (20 Marks); 5 to 6 minutes (10 Marks); over 6 minutes (Disqualified).
  • Female: 8 minutes or earlier (20 Marks); 8 to 10 minutes (10 Marks); over 10 minutes (Disqualified).
• 1-Mile Run (Urban Technical Skilled):
  • Male: 6 minutes or earlier (20 Marks); 6 to 8 minutes (10 Marks); over 8 minutes (Disqualified).
  • Female: 8 minutes or earlier (20 Marks); 8 to 12 minutes (10 Marks); over 12 minutes (Disqualified).
• High Jump & Long Jump: Awarded scaled marks from 5 to 10 marks depending on distance and height cleared.
• Shot Put:
  • Male: 16 lbs shot put (Minimum 16 feet; 12 feet for Technical).
  • Female: 10 lbs shot put (Minimum 10 feet; 8 feet for Technical).

2. Hindi Writing Ability Test (हिन्दी लेखन क्षमता परीक्षा)

• Candidates clearing the physical test will appear for a Hindi writing ability assessment (Class 7 standard for Rural; Class 10 standard for Urban).
• Total Marks: 100 Marks.
• Qualifying Marks: 30 Marks (Qualifying in nature).

3. Technical Skill Test (For Urban Technical Candidates Only)

• Practical assessment of trade competence.
• Total Marks: 100 Marks | Qualifying Marks: 30 Marks.

4. Additional Bonus Marks

• Sports Persons: Additional bonus marks (1 to 6 marks) are granted to medal winners in National and State-level games.
• Government Servants (Urban Category): Up to 10% of urban seats are available for government servants with bonus points ranging from 4 to 10 marks based on qualifications (Matric to PG).

5. Medical Examination & Police Verification

• Candidates qualifying all testing phases will undergo character verification by the Police Department and a Medical Fitness Test prior to receiving basic training at Ranchi headquarters.
