Navodaya JNVST Class 6 Online Form 2026-27: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (JNVST) has released the Vidyalaya 6th Class Admission Notification for Academic Session 2026-27. At present, 654
Vidyalayas are functional in 27 States and 08 Union Territories. A maximum of eighty students are admitted in Class VI in each Vidyalaya through a Selection Test subject to availability of suitable candidates. The Students interested in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Entrance Exam 2026, can register on the Official Website i.e. navodaya.gov.in.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6th Selection Test 2026
Admissions in JNVs are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) to Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and thereafter English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science. Students of the JNVs appear for board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education. While education in the schools is free, including board & lodging, uniforms and textbooks, a sum of Rs. 600/- per month is collected only from the students of Classes IX to XII towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi. However, students belonging to SC/ST categories, all Girls students and students whose family income is below the poverty line (BPL) are exempted. In respect of wards of Government employees other than exempted category (Students of classes VI to VIII, all SC/ST & Girl students, and wards of BPL families) Vikas Nidhi will be charged @Rs.1500/- per month or actual children education allowance received by the parent per month whichever is less. However, VVN shall not be less than Rs.600/- per student per month.

Navodaya Vidyalaya 6th Class Admission Form 2026-27
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Entrance Test for 6th Class has started and will be closed on 29 July 2025. The exam dates for the 6th class selection for the Navodaya Vidyalaya are 13th December 2025 and 11th April 2026.
JNVST 2026: 6th Class-Eligibility Conditions
- Candidate has to study class V in any of the or Govt. recognized schools located in the same District during 2025-26.
- A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the whole of the academic session 2025-26 in a Government/Government aided or other recognized schools. The candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to class V before 31st July 2025 is not eligible to apply.
Candidate has to reside in the district where he/she is seeking admission in the JNV located in the same District. Bonafide residence certificate of the parent is to be submitted at the time of verification of documents after the provisional selection.
- A candidate seeking admission must not have been born before 01-05-2014 and after 31-07-2016 (Both dates are inclusive).
- No candidate is eligible to apply for the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.
At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates provisionally selected from Rural Areas of the district. The remaining seats are open which will be filled on merit from both Urban and Rural Area candidates of the district as per selection criteria.
Documents Submission after Selection in Navodaya 6th Entrance Test 2026
The Students who are selected in Navodaya Vidyalaya Entrance Test 2026 Conducted by JNVST Board are given below
- Residence Certificate in prescribed Performa in case of NIOS study only
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Proofs for eligibility as per the conditions of NVS.
- For candidates seeking admission under the rural quota, the parents will also have to submit a certificate to the effect that the child had studied in an Institution located in a notified rural area

JNVST 2026 Class 6 Exam Pattern and Duration
The selection test will be of two-hour duration from 11:30 am to 01:30 pm and will have 3 sections with only objective-type questions. There are 80 questions in all for 100 marks.

A single test booklet comprising of all three sections will be given to each candidate. Additional time of 30 minutes will be allowed for “Divyang students” (differently-abled students)
Application Process for JNVST 6th Entrance Test Application Form 2026
The process for submission of application for JNV Selection Test has been simplified through online process. Registration can be done free of cost through the admission portal of NVS linked through navodaya.gov.in
- The JNVST 6th Class Application Process is done online which is very simple. All documents required for the JNV Entrance test like Eligibility, Residence, age, etc Verification will be done successfully through laid download procedure.
- The eligible candidates along with his /her parent/guardians may approach Common Service Centre along with a duly filled-in certificate from the Head Master of School where the candidate is studying in Class V. The format of certificate may be downloaded from Samiti website www.nvshq.org the sample of format is enclosed.
- The candidates from NIOS should `B’ certificate and residence should be in the same district where he / she is seeking admission.
- The application for JNV Selection Test 2026 is being processed through Common Service Centre of Ministry of IT, Govt. of India. Common Service Centre has a wider range with 2.6 lakh centres across the country virtually covering every village.

JNV Selection Test for admission to Class-VI in JNVs for the academic session 2026-27 will be held in two phases as given below:

Centre for Examination
Each candidate shall appear for the selection test at the examination center allotted to him/her as indicated on the Admit Card. No candidate is permitted to appear from any other center. No request for change of center will be entertained. No candidate can appear in the selection test without proper Admit Card.
