Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (As on 1st July 2026)

Candidates applying for Post Code 11, 12, 15, 16, and 31 must be between 21 and 27 years of age. Specifically, candidates must have been born between 2nd July 1999 and 1st July 2005. Age relaxations of up to 5 years apply to candidates from SC, ST, BC, EWS, and AP State Government employees, while Ex-Servicemen and NCC instructors get 3 years of relaxation.

Educational Qualifications (As on 1st July 2026)

  • For SI Civil, AR, and SPF (Post Codes 11, 12, 31): Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university. SC/ST candidates must have passed the Intermediate examination and studied a degree course in any university in India.

  • For SI Communication (Post Code 15): A Diploma or B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or a three-year B.Sc in Electronics or equivalent.

  • For SI PTO (Post Code 16): A Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automobile Engineering from a recognized State Board of Technical Education.

Physical Standards (PMT)

Candidates must meet the following physical standards to proceed in the selection process:

  • Men: Minimum Height of 167.6 cm (162 cm for Post Code 15 & 16), with a Chest of at least 86.3 cm (84 cm for Post Code 15 & 16) and a minimum expansion of 5 cm (4 cm for Comm/PTO).

  • Women (Post Code 11, 12 & 15): Minimum Height of 152.5 cm and a minimum weight of 40 Kgs.

  • Note: Specific height and weight relaxations are provided for Aboriginal Scheduled Tribes in designated Agency areas.

  • OC (including EWS), BC, and Non-Local Candidates: Rs. 600/-

  • SC and ST Candidates (Local to AP): Rs. 300/-

Selection Process

The AP Police SI selection process involves multiple stages, which slightly vary based on the post category:

  1. Preliminary Written Test (For Civil, AR, SPF): Two objective-type papers (100 marks each) covering Arithmetic, Reasoning, and General Studies. (Not applicable for Communication and PTO posts).

  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Verification of Height, Weight, and Chest parameters.

  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Includes a 1600m run, 100m run, and Long Jump.

    • Civil & Communication: 1600m is qualifying; candidates must pass one out of the remaining two events.

    • AR, SPF, & PTO: Candidates must qualify in all required events; for AR and SPF, marks from PET are counted toward final merit.

  4. Final Written Examination:

    • Civil, AR, SPF: Four papers (English, Telugu/Urdu, Arithmetic & Reasoning, General Studies).

    • Communication & PTO: Three papers (English, Arithmetic & Reasoning, Technical Paper).

  5. Final Selection: Based strictly on merit derived from final written exam scores (and PET marks for AR and SPF posts) subject to rule of reservation and local cadre guidelines.
