Selection Criteria

The selection process for TNPSC Group 4 is streamlined and merit-based. Unlike Group 1 or Group 2 exams, there is no interview and no preliminary/mains split.

  1. Written Examination: A single OMR-based objective exam. Candidates are ranked strictly based on the marks secured in this exam.

  2. Document Verification (DV) & Counseling: Candidates who clear the written exam cut-off are called for certificate verification. Department allocation is done through counseling based on rank and community reservation.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern 2026

The exam consists of a single paper divided into two parts. The most critical update in recent years is the Part-A (Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test). Marks obtained in Part-A are not just qualifying; they are counted for the final ranking, provided the candidate scores the minimum qualifying marks.
