The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination June 2026, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.,’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges through Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct UGC—NET June 2026 to determine eligibility for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’, ‘Assistant Professor’, and admission to Ph.D. in 83 subjects in OMR (Pen & Paper) mode.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 examination. This prestigious national-level exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to Ph.D. programs in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates wishing to appear in the Joint UGC NET Examination June 2026 may apply online on ugcnet.nta.nic.in, www.nta.ac.in. NTA Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026: Important Instructions:

1. Candidates can apply for UGC-NET June 2026 through the “Online” mode only through the website https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/. The Application Form will not be accepted in any other mode.
2. A candidate may submit only one application. Candidates are not allowed to fill out more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even later, against candidates who have filled out more than one Application Form.
3. Candidates must strictly follow the Information Bulletin and the instructions on the NTA website. Those who do not comply will be summarily disqualified.
4. Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or those of their Parents or guardians. All information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail to the registered e-mail address or SMS to the registered Mobile Number only.
5. NTA UGC NET 2026 June: Eligibility

1. General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. A list of subjects at the post-graduation level is attached in Appendix V. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
2. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally. They shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after passing their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of OBC-NCL/ SC / ST / PwD / Third gender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
3. Candidates belonging to the Third gender category are eligible to receive the same fee, age, and Eligibility Criteria for NET (i.e., JRF, and Assistant Professor) relaxation as SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for this category would be the lowest for SC / ST / PwD / OBC–NCL / General-EWS categories in the corresponding subject.
4. Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a 5% aggregate mark relaxation (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET. The list of Post-Graduate courses and their codes is given at Appendix VI.
5. Candidates are advised to appear only in the subject of their postgraduate studies. Candidates whose Postgraduate subject is not covered in the list of NET subjects attached as Appendix V may appear in a related subject.
6. Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form or Confirmation Page to NTA. However, the candidates, in their own interest, must ensure themselves about their eligibility for the test. If the UGC/NTA detects any ineligibility at any stage, their candidature will be canceled, and they shall be liable for legal action. NTA does not verify the information provided by the candidates during online registration, and hence, the candidature will be purely provisional, subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
7. Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by an Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by a foreign University/ institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in)

NTA Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026: Age Limit

• For JRF: Not more than 30 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded (July 2026). Age relaxations of up to 5 years apply to reserved categories, women applicants, and armed forces veterans.

• For Assistant Professor & Admission to Ph.D.: There is no upper age limit.

How to Apply for CSIR UGC NET 2026

1. Registration: Visit the official website and register for the online form submission using a valid Email ID and Mobile Number. Note down the system-generated Application Number.

2. Fill Application Form: Complete the online form with correct details. Upload scanned images of a recent photograph (10 kb – 200 kb) and signature (10 kb – 50 kb). If applicable, upload the Result Awaited Attestation Form, Category Certificate, and PwD/PwBD Certificate (50 kb – 300 kb in PDF format).

3. Fee Payment: Pay the prescribed examination fee using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.

4. Confirmation Page: After successful payment, download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.

NTA Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 Exam Pattern

• The test will consist of three parts (Part A, B, and C) comprising objective-type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

• There will be no break between papers.

• The exam will be bilingual, available in both Hindi and English.

• Subjects: Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

• Negative Marking: Applicable for wrong answers, generally at 25% or 33% depending on the subject and part (except for Part C of Mathematical Sciences, which has no negative marking).
