The Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) 2026 is the mandatory entrance examination for admission into the four-year undergraduate programs, such as the Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) and the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), run by the University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management.
The UIHTM, established in the academic session 2009-2010, aims to nurture future industry leaders by offering two UGC-guided programs:
- Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT)
- Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM).

The entrance paper consists of 100 questions, with one mark awarded for each question, totaling 100 marks.

Negative Marking: There is a penalty for wrong answers; 25% of marks will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Eligibility Details
A candidate is eligible to appear for PUTHAT 2026 if they have passed the 10+2 Examination or its equivalent conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council.
- Minimum Marks: Not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
- Reserved Categories: A concession is provided to candidates belonging to the SC/ST/BC/PwD Categories, requiring a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate.
- Compulsory Subject: English must have been one of the compulsory subjects.

Application Fee
The PUTHAT 2026 application fee is non-refundable and must be deposited through the online mode.
Interested applicants must also pay the required application fee, which is Rs 2850 for the general category and Rs 1425 for the SC/ST/PwD category.

How to Apply
The application process is entirely online. Candidates must follow these steps:
- Register Online: Complete the initial registration to generate a Login ID and Password.
- Pay Online Fee: Deposit the requisite fee through the online mode.
- Login and Update Information: Log in using the generated credentials and upload a scanned photograph and signature. Fill in all other mandatory information and click ‘Save and Confirm’.
- Download Admit Card: The admit card will be available for download online after January 6, 2026.
Important Note for Fee Concession Claims: Candidates claiming the fee concession under the SC/ST/PwD or P.U. Employee categories must submit the hard copy printout of their filled form, along with self-attested copies of all required category certificates, to the Assistant Registrar, CET Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by registered post/speed post or by hand before the specified deadline (January 5, 2026).
