SAIL Rourkela Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), has officially released an engagement notification (Ref. No. L&D/Adv./APP/158) for its One-Year Apprenticeship Training Programme for the session 2026–27. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 1,110 apprenticeship vacancies across Trade, Technician (Diploma), Graduate (Engineering), Non-Engineering Graduate, and Medical/Allied Health disciplines.

Eligible Indian candidates who completed their regular ITI, Diploma, or Degree qualifications between 2022 and 2026 can register on the official NAPS/NATS portals by August 26, 2026, and appear for the walk-in document verification process scheduled from September 1 to September 26, 2026.

SAIL Rourkela Apprenticeship Vacancy Details & Monthly Stipend

The 1,110 vacancies are distributed across three primary categories:

1. Trade Apprentices (421 Vacancies)

• Trades: Electrician (100), Fitter (100), COPA (56), Electronics Mechanic (15), Turner (15), Welder (15), AOCP (10), Diesel Mechanic (10), Tool & Die Maker (10), Instrument Mechanic (10), LACP (10), Machinist (10), Motor Vehicle Mechanic (10), RAC Mechanic (10), ICTSM (10), Central AC Plant Mechanic (10), Technician Mechatronics (10), Manufacturing Process Control & Automation (10).

• Stipend: ₹10,560/- per month (except COPA & Welder trades, which receive ₹9,600/- per month).

2. Technician (Diploma) & Graduate (Engineering) Apprentices

• Disciplines: Civil, Computer Science, EEE, Electrical, Mechanical/Mechatronics, Metallurgy, E&TC, IT, Automobile, ECE, E&I, Production, Ceramic Technology, and Chemical Engineering.

• Stipend:

  • Graduate Apprentices: ₹12,300/- per month

  • Diploma Apprentices: ₹10,900/- per month

3. Non-Engineering & Allied Health Apprentices

• Degrees: BA (40), B.Sc (15), B.Com (10), BCA (10), BBA (10), B.Sc Nursing (20).
• Diplomas: GNM Nursing (40), Physiotherapy (04), DMLT (06), DRT (04), DXT (10), DOTT (04), Data Entry Operator/PGDCA (10), D.Pharma (06).
• Stipend: ₹12,300/- per month for Degree holders and ₹10,900/- per month for Diploma holders.

SAIL Rourkela Apprentice: Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed their respective ITI, Diploma, or Degree course from a government-recognized institute/university as regular students.

• Passing Year Requirement: Only candidates who passed their qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible.

• Ineligibility: Candidates whose final results are awaited, or who have already undergone/are undergoing apprenticeship training or have one year of work experience elsewhere, are not eligible.

• Age Limit: Must be between 18 and 28 years as of August 31, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Govt. of Odisha guidelines.

Selection Process

Selection for the apprenticeship training is purely based on academic merit through a walk-in shortlisting process:

• 30% Weightage: Marks secured in Class 10th / Matriculation examination.

• 70% Weightage: Marks secured in the qualifying ITI, Diploma, or Degree course.

Walk-In Interview & Document Verification Schedule

Candidates must complete their online registration on the respective apprenticeship portals by August 26, 2026, and report in person for walk-in verification between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM on the specified dates:

Venue: Central Recreation Room, Trainees’ Hostel, Sector-5, Rourkela-769002, Dist: Sundargarh (Odisha).

SAIL Rourkela Apprenticeship 2026-27 Documents Required at the Time of Walk-In

Candidates must bring original copies along with self-attested photocopies of the following documents:

1. Original Institution Leaving Certificate (retained by RSP during training).

2. Matriculation Certificate for Date of Birth verification.

3. Provisional Pass Certificate & Marksheets of the qualifying examination.

4. Community / Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/PH), if applicable.

5. Aadhaar Card and DBT-enabled Bank Passbook (KYC verified).

6. Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Hospital doctor.

7. Printed Registration Copy from the NAPS or NATS portal.

How to Apply

1. For ITI (Trade) Candidates:

   • Register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.org.

   • Log in, navigate to Apprenticeship Opportunities, search for SAIL ROURKELA STEEL PLANT, and click Apply for the desired trade.

2. For Degree & Diploma Candidates:

   • Register on the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in.

   • Log in, navigate to Establishment Requests > Find Establishment, search for Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant, and apply for your branch.

3. Submit your application on the portal on or before August 26, 2026.

4. Attend the walk-in verification process at Rourkela as per the designated schedule for your trade/discipline.
