Education Details

To be eligible for the SSB Constable (GD) recruitment, candidates must have successfully completed their Matriculation (10th standard) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized educational board.

Salary

Selected candidates will receive a handsome remuneration under Pay Level-3. The monthly basic salary scale ranges from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100/-, along with other admissible allowances as per government rules.

Age Limit

To apply for the SSB Constable posts, candidates must meet the following age criteria (calculated as of January 1, 2026):

  • Maximum Age Limit: 35 Years

Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST) will receive a 5-year age relaxation in accordance with government norms.

Selection Process

The selection framework for the Constable (General Duty) post is rigorous and meticulously designed to assess the physical robustness, mental aptitude, and medical fitness of the candidates. The recruitment happens sequentially across the following stages:

  1. Physical Standard Test (PST):

Candidates are assessed based on their physical measurements. Any candidate falling short of the required standards will be immediately disqualified.

  • Height: For General/SC/OBC male candidates, the required height is 170 cm, while for females, it is 157 cm (relaxations apply for ST, North-Eastern states, and hill region candidates).
  • Chest (Males Only): Unexpanded minimum 80 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age, assessed using the standard BMI range of 18-25.
  1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Candidates who clear the PST will proceed to the PET, which is qualifying in nature.

  • Male Candidates: Must complete a 5 Kms race within 24 minutes.
  • Female Candidates: Must complete a 1.6 Kms race within 8 minutes 30 seconds.
  1. Written Examination:

Candidates who pass both physical tests will be called for a written test.

  • Format: The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice objective-type questions carrying 100 marks.
  • Duration: 2 Hours (120 Minutes).
  • Syllabus: The paper assesses General Awareness, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, and Basic Hindi/English language comprehension.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Generally, 50% for UR/EWS/OBC and 45% for SC/ST categories.
  1. Detailed Medical Examination (DME):

Candidates who make it to the merit list after the written test will undergo a thorough medical screening. Parameters like Distant Vision (6/6 and 6/9), Near Vision, absence of color blindness, knock knees, flat feet, and general physical and mental fitness are strictly checked to ensure candidates are in SHAPE-I category.

  1. Review Medical Examination (RME):

Candidates declared medically unfit during the DME have the right to appeal for a Review Medical Examination within a stipulated time frame by submitting the required medical fitness certificates from a government specialist.
