UCEED 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has commenced the application process for admission to the B.Design Program based on the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED 2026). UCEED is the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee for Design courses. UCEED 2026 Notification PDF
Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). UCEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To appear for UCEED 2026, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Age Limit:
- Candidates from OPEN, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories must be born on or after October 1, 2001.
- SC, ST, and PwD candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1996.

Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have appeared for their Class 12 (or equivalent) exam for the first time in 2025 or 2026.
- Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, Arts & Humanities) are eligible.

Attempts:
- A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

Exclusions:
- Candidates already allotted a B.Des seat in any participating institute are not eligible.
UCEED 2026 Documents Required for Registration
Below is a list of certificates and other documents that must be uploaded during online registration for UCEED 2026. The certificates MUST be in the Central Government format as given in the appendices.
- A recent colour photograph of a full frontal (face) view, with the head centred in the frame covering 70–80% of the photograph and taken within the last six months. The photograph should allow unambiguous identification of the candidate (only JPEG image formats with file extension .jpg will be accepted).
- A scanned copy of the candidate’s full signature on white paper (only JPEG image formats with file extension .jpg will be accepted).
- Qualifying examination certificate, if appeared in 2023 (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted).
- For candidates appearing in 2026 for the exam, a certificate from the school/college principal in the given format (Appendix 1) should be uploaded (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted).
- If the name is not the same as in the Class XII certificate, a gazette notification showing the name change is required (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted).
Candidates seeking admission under the EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD category
- OBC-NCL (Appendix 2), Caste (for SC), Tribe (for ST) (Appendix 3), EWS (Appendix 4), or PwD certificate (Unique Disability Identification (UDID) certificate or Forms in Appendices 5 – 7) issued by a competent authority (only PDF formats with the file extension .pdf will be accepted).
- Dyslexic candidates need to submit FORM-DYSLEXIC 1 and 2 (Appendices 8 and 9) instead of a PwD certificate. The certificate must mention ‘SEVERE’ under the Dyslexia category to enable the candidate to benefit from the PwD category.
PwD Candidates requiring Scribe (Amanuensis) and Compensatory Time
- PwD candidates requiring scribe and/or compensatory time (20 minutes/hour) during the exam must upload a request letter (Appendix 10).
- The compensatory time for Part-A cannot be transferred to Part-B and vice versa.

UCEED 2026 Exam Centers
UCEED 2026 will be held only in the following 27 cities in India: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mysuru, Nagpur, Noida, Panaji, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Visakhapatnam.
Number of attempts:
A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times in consecutive years. The UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.
UCEED 2026 Qualifying Exam
- Final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (www.aiu.ac.in).
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- H.S.C. vocational examination.
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
- If the Class XII examination is not public, the candidate must have already passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination before appearing for UCEED.
- A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (www.aicte-india.org) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least THREE years. It is important to note that the eligibility criteria of the participating Institutes may not consider candidates with a Diploma of three year duration.

UCEED 2026 Question Paper Format
- There will be ONE question paper of total THREE hours duration.
- The question paper will be in English only.
- The question paper will carry a total of 300 marks.
- The question paper will consist of two parts: Part A and Part B. It is compulsory to attempt questions from both parts.
- Utmost care is taken to prepare an error-free question paper. However, if an error is detected in the question paper, the UCI Committee shall take an appropriate decision after the examination, which shall be final.
UCEED 2026 Exam Pattern
Part A – Total marks: 240 marks; Maximum time: 2 hours 30 mins
Section 1: NAT (Numerical Answer Type): 14 questions (4 marks each; no negative marks). For these questions, the answer is a number that needs to be entered using a virtual keyboard on the computer screen. No choices will be shown for these questions.
Section 2: MSQ (Multiple Select Question): 15 questions. Each MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice(s) out of the four given. The following is the marking scheme:
- Full Marks: + 4 If only (all) the correct option(s) is(are) chosen and NONE of the incorrect options is chosen.
- Partial Marks: + 3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three options are chosen and NONE of the incorrect options is chosen.
- Partial Marks: + 2 If three or more options are correct but ONLY two options are correct, NONE of the incorrect options are chosen.
- Partial Marks: + 1 If two or more options are correct but ONLY one option is chosen and it is a correct option and NONE of the incorrect options is chosen.
- Zero Marks: 0 If NONE of the options is chosen (i.e., the question is unanswered).
- Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases.
Section 3: MCQ (Multiple Choice Question): There are 28 questions (3 marks each for the correct answer; 0.71 negative marks for incorrect answers). Each MCQ has four choices, of which only one is the correct answer.

Part-B (Total marks: 100; Maximum time: 1 hour)
- Part-B consists of TWO questions to test the candidates’ drawing skills and design aptitude. This will require subjective evaluation. The questions in Part-B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answer must be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator. In the case of PwD candidates availing a scribe, assistance in attempting Part B is not permitted, as the question is aimed at evaluating their drawing skills.
- Part-B answer booklets will be collected at the end of the examination.
- Part-B question is mandatory.
- The entire paper (Part-A and Part-B) must be finished within the stipulated time for each part.
