Eligibility Criteria
Essential Education Qualification
Candidates must have a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
Students currently in the Final Year or Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 30.09.2026 if called for an interview.
Candidates possessing specific professional qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, or Cost Accountant are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit to Apply for SBI PO
Candidates must not be below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2026.
This means candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both days inclusive).
Age relaxations on the upper age limit are provided for reserved categories, including 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and up to 15 years for PwBD candidates, as per government rules.

Pay Scale/ Salary for SBI POs
The starting basic pay for an SBI Probationary Officer is ₹48,480/- (which includes 4 advance increments) within the Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
The applicable pay scale is 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920.
The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) at the initial scale of pay at the Mumbai Centre is an impressive ₹21.97 Lacs.
Selected officials will be eligible for various allowances, including DA, HRA, CCA, PF, Contributory Pension Fund (NPS), LFC, Medical Facility, and Lease rental facility.
SBI PO Exam: Selection Process
The selection for Probationary Officers is conducted through a rigorous three-phase process:
Phase-I (Preliminary Examination): An online Objective Test for 100 marks consisting of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
Phase-II (Main Examination): An online test consisting of Objective tests for 200 marks and a Descriptive test (typing on a computer) for 30 marks.
Phase-III (Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview): Candidates shortlisted from Phase-II will undergo a Psychometric test for personality profiling, followed by a Group Exercise (20 marks) and a Personal Interview (30 marks).

Exam Pattern
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination is an online Objective Test consisting of 100 marks. The test duration is 1 hour, divided into three sections with separate timings. There is no sectional cut-off for the preliminary exam.

Penalty for Wrong Answers (Phase-I & Phase-II)
There is a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests of both the Preliminary and Main examinations.
For each wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
No marks are deducted if a question is left blank.
Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview
Candidates shortlisted after the Main Examination will proceed to Phase-III. The Bank will conduct a Psychometric test for personality profiling, the findings of which will be provided to the Interview panel.

SBI PO Pre-Examination Training (PET) Details
Eligible Categories: The Bank will arrange the training specifically for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD categories, in accordance with Government of India guidelines.
Mode of Training: The pre-examination training will be conducted entirely in online mode.
Tentative Schedule: The conduct of the Pre-Examination Training is scheduled for July 2026.
How to Opt-In: All eligible candidates who wish to avail of this training must explicitly select the option by filling in the relevant column in their online application form.
Accessing the Training: Candidates who have opted for the training must log in to the Bank’s official website to access the modules. You will need to enter your registration number and date of birth to log in.
Intimation & Call Letters: Details regarding the exact schedule of the training will be shared with candidates via their registered email and SMS. Candidates can also download their Pre-exam Training call letters directly from the Bank’s website.
No Hard Copies: The Bank will not send any hard copies of the training schedule or call letters via post.
